Brynarth stud
The history of Brynarth stud is very minimal, as we are what you might call the new kids on the block. Most stud's start with thier foundation mare and build there way up from there, but for me that was not the case. I have always been involved with horses from the day I was born. My first pony was a Section A named Toby, who was full of character and one of the best first ponies you could ask for. I was always very competative and competed in gynkhana games on a weekly basis. After Toby I followed on with various ponies competing in show jumping and gymkhana games, all from my recolection were welsh crosses. Once I had grown out of my ponies my parents brought me my first horse at age 14, she was a part bred mare by Hewid Cardi called Ford Croft Twilight (Abbie). She was a mare of great quality and was everything i could have ever wanted. In 2001 I left school and decided to attend Lackham College In Chippenham Wiltshire where I completed my First Diploma in Horse care. I enjoyed learning about these great animals so much I stayed for a further 2 years and completed my National Diploma in Horse Managment with an overall grade of Distinction distinction merit and took home the student of the year trophy. The course covered various aspects of the horse from Breeding to animal science, whilst at college I obtained the following :-

I Finished college in july 2004 and moved to Thornbury Bristol with my partner Lee, who also has great interest in horses. Lee and his farther have owned horses for many years, breaking youngstock to ride and drive. Lee and his father had a Section D stallion Brynmelys Joshua who was brought with the intent of making him a driving pony. Lee and Brynmelys Joshua had a bond that everyone could see, and in 2003 Lee gained full ownership of Brynmelys Joshua, and little did I know this was the start of Brynarth Stud. In 2005 I lost my mare Abbie to aged related colic, and was devistated. Lee knew I would not be able to fund another horse at this time, and with out me knowing he went to the Royal welsh sales in 2004 and purchased Bodwenarth Romeo a Section C colt Foal. When I returned home from work that day their was a tiny little chestnut colt in the stable, and I have not looked back from that day. And as you can see our stud has started with 2 welsh colts.

The welsh breeds started to become an area of interest, although horses including the welsh sections had been a large part of our lives, neither of us knew quite how much we would grow to appreciate them, we had officialy been bitten by the welsh bug. We found ourselves growing more and more interested in the welsh sections mainly the welsh cob and pony of cob type. Our interest grew and grew and we found ourselves following the showing circle and geting to know the breed charateristcs and discription, but we were unsure where to take our interests and then...

In September 2006 a Section D mare owned by Lee's farther found her way through 2 fences and over a 5 bar gate into our stallions paddock!!! needless to say she knew what she wanted, and 11 months down the line we had our first foal although unplanned and very late being born at the tail end of August Brynarth Odyssey was definatly a mistake we would not have changed. We now own the Dam (Hermon Alisha) and she is our foundation mare. During the long 11month gestation period we started to question our future with the welsh breed, watching the studs and producers in the show ring and looking at past and present ambassadors of the wpcs brought a passion that neither of us knew was there. Our future has since been maped out, unsure of how we made the decision, we are both happy that we will not turn back and aim for great things with Brynarth stud using our passion and love for the welsh breed to drive us forward.

Since this time we have made investments and decisions that will set Brynarth stud up for the future incuding developing our yard (please see facilities page) and in 2007 we then purchased Cathedine Calennig a Section C mare from Mr C Evans of Cathedine stud. And both mares will be covered by resident stallions, to be due in 2009.
